Batsman Pieter Malan will join Middlesex for the remainder of the 2022 County Championship in the United Kingdom.
This is Malan’s second stint in English county cricket. He represented Warwickshire in six first-class and three T20 fixtures in 2021.
Malan has replaced Australian batsman Peter Handscomb at Middlesex.

What Malan said
“I am very excited to be joining Middlesex. They are without a doubt one of the most prestigious counties and being based at Lord’s makes this an incredible opportunity that I’m hoping to grab with both hands,” said Malan.
“They’ve had an excellent start to the season and hopefully I can come over and contribute to even more success on the field.”
What Middlesex head of men’s performance cricket Alan Coleman said
“We are thrilled to have secured Pieter’s signature for the rest of this season, and he will add a huge amount of experience and quality to our batting ranks,” added Coleman.
“”As a batter he is vastly experienced, will be a real asset to the dressing room, and we can’t wait to welcome him into the club.”
Malan’s recent record
The 32-year-old Malan was in fine form for Boland in division one of South Africa’s 2021-22 4-Day Domestic Series. He struck a double-century against Dolphins.
He also hit 104 and 98 against the Lions and North West, respectively, in division one of the 2021-22 One Day Cup.
South Africa capped Malan three times at Test level in 2020.
Several other South Africans are involved in English county cricket this season, including all-rounder George Linde at Kent, batsman Keegan Petersen at Warwickshire and fast bowler Dane Paterson at Nottinghamshire.
