Pinetown Cricket Club all-rounder Robbie Frylinck has been named in South Africa’s squad for this month’s Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh.
Frylinck has been a standout performer for the Dolphins for a sustained period – and recently played for a Cricket South Africa Invitation XI against the touring Bangladeshis.
Earlier this year, he represented the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.
“The selection of Robbie provides another opportunity to explore our depth in the important all-rounder position,” said national selection panel convenor Linda Zondi. “Apart from his bowling strengths, he has a proven record as a finisher with the bat.”
Kempton Park Cricket Club’s Tabraiz Shamsi has been included ahead of fellow wrist spinner Imran Tahir – and Strandfontein Cricket Club, United Cricket Club and Bellville Cricket Club are represented in batsman JP Duminy, fast bowler Dane Paterson and seamer Beuran Hendricks, respectively. Montrose Cricket Club seamer Wayne Parnell was not considered due to injury.
The first T20I will be played at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on 26 October – and the second three days later at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.
