Former Border and Free State seamer Loyiso Mdashe has joined Pirates Cricket Club for the 2023-24 Lions Cricket premier league A.
Mdashe played first-class cricket from 2015 to 2018.
“With first-class experience under his belt, we are really looking forward to welcoming Loyiso to Pirates,” read a statement from Pirates Cricket Club.
“A key part of our vision is to develop young cricketers and experienced campaigners are vital to achieving this.
“Loyiso is a quality bowler and an explosive middle-order batsman who will add tremendous value to the squad.
“We are looking forward to having him at the club and envision a role that includes giving back to the game by helping out with some junior coaching and mentoring our young fast bowlers.”
Pirates Cricket Club recently appointed new captain Nick Liedtke.
Liedtke, who is Pirates Cricket Club’s reigning Cricketer of the Year, has succeeded former captain Chad Roberts, who has become Pirates Cricket Club director of cricket.
“Nick shows great promise, consistency and experience, given his previous role as vice-captain from the season before,” said new Pirates Cricket Club head coach Aya Myoli.
“In the time that I have known him, Nick has demonstrated his commitment to being a leading member of the Pirates fraternity. He has an excellent attendance record for practice sessions and shows great enthusiasm when he is with the team.”
Pirates Cricket Club have been promoted to the Lions Cricket premier league A after 2022-23’s title-winning premier league B campaign.
