Former Sri Lankan Test cricketer Rangana Herath has joined Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club as spin bowling coach.
Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club compete in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition – the highest level of club cricket in the state of Victoria, Australia.
“We are thrilled to announce that former Sri Lankan Test captain and legendary left-arm orthodox spinner, Rangana Herath, will join the Swans as our spin bowling coach for the 2025-26 season,” read a statement from Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club.
“Rangana’s playing credentials are extraordinary – over 400 Test wickets and 500-plus international wickets – making him one of the most successful spin bowlers in the history of the game.
“Since retirement, he has become a highly respected coach, with international roles for Bangladesh and New Zealand, as well as various positions in top-level T20 franchises around the globe.
“Rangana will be an incredible asset to our program – particularly for the development of our spin group – bringing a wealth of knowledge, technical expertise, and tactical insight.”
Herath is the 12th highest wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket. He took 433 in 93 matches, including nine 10-wicket hauls. His Test career spanned 1999 to 2018.
