The Pretoria Capitals have appointed batsman Rilee Rossouw captain for the 2025 edition of the SA20.
Rossouw has replaced former Pretoria Capitals captain Wayne Parnell.
“We want to play positive cricket. We want to play good cricket and be competitive. Our cause remains the same as the last two seasons,” said Rossouw.
“We also have some key men that have to come back for us in the fast-bowling department. Hopefully, their toes and shoulders will be fine when the competition kicks off. They are looking good and progressing really well.”
Meanwhile, former England batsman and current Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott has been named Pretoria Capitals head coach.
Trott has replaced former Pretoria Capitals head coach Graham Ford.
The Capitals ended the 2024 SA20 in fifth position. They were runners-up at the inaugural SA20 in 2023. This year’s Capitals squad includes New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham, England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and West Indies batsman Evin Lewis.
The third edition of the SA20 will start this month. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who are captained by Proteas batsman Aiden Markram, are the reigning SA20 champions. They won the tournament in 2023 and 2024.
