Pretoria University Cricket Club retain Red Bull Campus World Finals title

Pretoria University Cricket Club were crowned the 2015 Red Bull Campus World Finals champions on the back of an impressive eight-wicket triumph over England’s Loughborough University Cricket Club in India on Saturday.

Fondly known as Assupol Tuks, PUCC restricted the English unit to 120 for nine in 20 overs, before captain and Man of the Match Aiden Markram’s quickfire 67 all but ensured victory with 19 deliveries to spare.

Assupol Tuks won last year’s title, too, and again received plenty of praise from Cricket South Africa chief executive Haroon Lorgat: “This is a wonderful performance by Tuks, one that we can all be can be proud of. Winning back-to-back titles in so very different conditions, first in England and then in India, is a tremendous achievement.

“Tuks showed that they were adept at setting a target and also chasing a target successfully in the semi-final and final respectively – and their margins of victory in both matches were, indeed, impressive.

“Congratulations to captain Markram, coach Pierre de Bruyn and all the players and team management on an outstanding achievement. Aiden was named Man of the Match in the final and Murray Coetzee Man of the Tournament – and these accolades are very well deserved.”
