Wicketkeeper-batsman Zahid Allie and all-rounder Faheem Bedford have left Primrose Cricket Club and Yorkshire Cricket Club, respectively, to join Rylands Cricket Club for the 2017-18 Western Province Cricket Association season.

Rylands Cricket Club occupied sixth position in 2016-17’s WPCA first division B, after three victories in nine attempts. The arrival of Allie and Bedford will boost a club eager to finish ahead of Somerset West Cricket Club, Hottentots Holland Cricket Club, Bishop Lavis Cricket Club and others in the 10-team standings.

The talented Allie will leave behind a struggling Primrose Cricket Club unit, which has been relegated from the premier league to the first division A.

The experienced Bedford, meanwhile, will vacate his position as Yorkshire Cricket Club’s head coach, held since 2015.

Rylands Cricket Club is currently undergoing a renovation, which includes the establishment of a permanent clubhouse – and thorough refurbishment of the practice nets. The club, too, has confirmed the retention of prolific seam bowler Munowar Samsodien.
