South African batsman Temba Bavuma will likely play for Soweto Pioneers Cricket Club in a key 2017-18 Gauteng Cricket Board premier league A fixture against Kagiso Cricket Club on Sunday, 25 February 2018.

Bavuma has been sidelined since mid-January 2018, when he broke a finger during the Cape Cobras’ Momentum One Day Cup victory over the Knights at Newlands in Cape Town.

“Temba is progressing positively following the fracture to his hand. The plan is for him to play a club game on Sunday for Soweto Pioneers Cricket Club. This will also double up as his fitness test. If he comes through the match, he will be available for selection,” said Proteas team manager, doctor Mohammed Moosajee.

“It is confirmed. Temba will play for us this weekend,” Soweto Pioneers Cricket Club chairman Siqamo Laphu confirmed to Club Cricket SA.

Soweto Pioneers Cricket Club currently occupy eight position in the 12-teamĀ 2017-18 Gauteng Cricket Board premier league A standings, after six wins in 16 attempts.

The 27-year-old Bavuma, who was born in Cape Town, previously represented Langa Cricket Club.
