Batsman David Bedingham, seamer Nandre Burger and wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne were named in the Proteas’ XI for this week’s first Test against India in Centurion.
Bedingham and Burger debuted and Verreynne was recalled after beingĀ dropped for the series against the West Indies earlier this year.
Proteas captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. The start of play was delayed due to a wet patch on the pitch.
The second and final Test of the series will be played at Newlands in Cape Town next week.
