Former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat has joined South Africa’s coaching staff ahead of this year’s Champions Trophy.

Arafat played three Tests, 11 ODIs and 13 T20Is from 2007 to 2012 – and has since coached Pakistan as well. He will also work with the Proteas during this month’s ODI tri-series against Pakistan and New Zealand, which precedes the Champions Trophy.

“Former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat has joined the support staff as a consultant for both the tri-nation series and the Champions Trophy,” read a statement from Cricket South Africa.

Meanwhile, the Titans’ Corbin Bosch has replaced the injured Anrich Nortje in South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad. Bosch won the 2025 SA20 title with MI Cape Town this week. Fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has been added as a travelling reserve.

“Bosch, who made his ODI debut Pakistan in December 2024, replaces the injured Nortje. Maphaka has also been added to the squad as a travelling reserve,” added CSA.

“Bosch and Maphaka, along with Proteas batter Tony de Zorzi, depart for Karachi on Sunday to join the squad for the remainder of the tri-nation ODI series.”
