Batsman Khaya Zondo and fast bowler Daryn Dupavillon have been named in the Proteas’ squad for next month’s Test series against Bangladesh.
Zondo and Dupavillon have been capped at ODI level, but not in Test cricket. Seamer Lizaad Williams and batsman Ryan Rickelton have also been included.
Batsman Zubayr Hamza was not considered for selection due to personal reasons.
The squad is without several first-choice players, who have chosen to participate in the Indian Premier League rather than this series.
The notable absentees include fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada, batsmen Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram – and all-rounders Marco Jansen and Dwaine Pretorius.

What CSA said
“The loss of the IPL players is not ideal, but we back the CSA system, its ever growing pipeline and most of all, the players we have selected,” said Cricket South Africa convenor of selectors Victor Mpitsang
“Every member of the team is selected based on the excellence that they have shown over an extended period of time.
“There is no better opportunity for them than now, to show us what they have to offer the Proteas on this highly anticipated occasion.”
South Africa and Bangladesh will contest two Tests. The first will be played at Kingsmead in Durban and the second at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.
