The Proteas have named a 16-man squad for next month’s T20I series against India.

Western Province all-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana and Dolphins all-rounder Andile Simelane have been included in the squad. Mpongwana and Simelane have been in the Proteas’ squad previously, but not yet debuted in international cricket.

Batsmen Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller – and spinner Keshav Maharaj – have been recalled. Seamer Gerald Coetzee and all-rounder Marco Jansen have also been included.

Fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada have been rested for this series. Seamer Lutho Sipamla will join the squad for the second half of the series. Sipamla recently won the T20 Challenge title with the Lions.

“It’s both an exciting and important series for us as we continue to build towards the T20 World Cup in 2026. The squad has a nice mix of youth and experience, and I am looking forward to seeing us deliver some quality performances against a very attacking Indian T20 outfit,” said Proteas limited-overs coach Rob Walter.

“We continue to drive our broader priorities of exposing our high-potential players to quality opposition as we look to widen our base of internationally-ready players, while at the same time understanding that our main objectives as always are to play a brand of cricket that excites our supporters and wins games of cricket for South Africa.”

South Africa and India will meet for four T20Is from 8 to 15 November. Durban, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria and Johannesburg will host the matches.
