Batsman Rassie van der Dussen has been ruled out of the remainder of South Africa’s ongoing Test series against England.
Van der Dussen has been sidelined by a finger injury sustained during this week’s second Test at Old Trafford in Manchester.
All-rounder Wiaan Mulder has replaced van der Dussen in the Proteas’ squad. He has been playing for Leicestershire in English county cricket recently.
“Van der Dussen has a fracture of his left index finger. He sustained the injury while fielding on the opening day of the second Test,” read a statement from Cricket South Africa.
“He will return to South Africa to consult a finger specialist, who will then guide on further medical management.”
England and South Africa have a win each in the three-Test series. The decider will start at The Oval in London on 8 September 2022.
