Captain Temba Bavuma returned to South Africa’s XI for Friday’s Cricket World Cup fixture against Pakistan in Chennai, India.
Bavuma missed matches against England and Bangladesh due to illness, but has since recovered. He replaced batsman Reeza Hendricks in Friday’s XI.
Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi returned to the XI, too, replacing the injured Kagiso Rabada.
“Rabada has been ruled out for today’s match as a precautionary measure due to a lower back spasm,” read a brief statement from Cricket South Africa.
Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi replaced seamer Lizaad Williams.
South Africa currently occupy second position in the 10-team tournament’s standings. They beat Sri Lanka and Australia before losing to the Netherlands – and later beat England and Bangladesh.
