Captain Temba Bavuma did not return to the Proteas XI for Tuesday’s Cricket World Cup fixture against Bangladesh in Mumbai, India.

Bavuma missed last week’s win over England due to illness – and remained sidelined this week.

Stand-in captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bat first.

Seamer Lizaad Williams replaced the injured Lungi Ngidi in the Proteas XI.

This is wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock’s 150th ODI. He will retire from ODI cricket after the World Cup.

South Africa currently occupy third position in the 10-team tournament’s standings.

South Africa XI: Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lizaad Williams.

Bangladesh XI: Tanzid Hasan, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mahmudullah, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud.
