Rain will likely affect the outcome of several Western Province Cricket Association premier league and first division A fixtures on 22, March 2025 – effectively the last day of the season.
For matches uncompleted due to rain, the WPCA playing conditions will dictate final positions on the points tables.
For example, in the WPCA first division A, if Victoria Cricket Club and Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club’s fixture is incomplete or not played at all, Primrose Cricket Club will end in second position and be promoted to next season’s premier league.
This is because Victoria Cricket Club, although on the same number of points as Primrose Cricket Club, have won fewer matches.
WPCA playing conditions
An extract from the WPCA playing conditions states: “In the premier league, first Division A to first division D, and reserved division A to reserve division E, should two or more teams finish with an equal number of points, the position on the log of each team will be decided as follows:
- “The team with the greater number of wins
- “If still equal, the team with the greater number of wins over the other team who are equal on points, and have the same
number of wins - “If still equal, the team with the most bonus points
- “If still equal, the team with the highest net run-rate”
