Randburg Cricket Club’s Chris Greaves put in a player of the match performance, as Scotland beat Bangladesh by six runs in the 2021 T20 World Cup late last week.
Greaves struck 45 from 28 deliveries down the order in a final total of 140 for nine.
The leg-spinner than took two for 19 in three overs to restrict the opposition to 134 for seven.
This was only Greaves’ second T20I.
The Sandton-born 31-year-old represented Randburg Cricket Club in Gauteng’s premier league earlier this year.

What Greaves said about Randburg Cricket Club
“I was presented with an opportunity to return to South Africa, where I grew up, to play some cricket at the start of this year and it was a chance I jumped at,” he said at the time.
“There has also been some familiarity because I am playing for Randburg Cricket Club which is where I grew up playing the game as a youngster.
“It is wonderful to be back playing for the club and it is a wonderful opportunity for me to get some sunshine and, most importantly, stay fit and focused so that I can keep pushing on with my goal of one day soon playing for Scotland in ODIs and T20Is.”
What Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer said
Greaves had impressed in practice fixtures against the Netherlands and Namibia. His four-wicket haul against the Dutch was particularly impressive – and included the key dismissals of the experienced Ryan ten Doeschate and Colin Ackermann.
“I am really proud of Greaves. He really sacrificed a lot. He was delivering parcels for Amazon not too long ago, and now is getting player of the match against Bangladesh,” said Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer after Sunday’s victory.
“I am not sure if he will appreciate me saying this. Seeing the performance from Mark Watt and Chris with the bat today, they are lesser-known people who had to make many sacrifices to get to where they are today.
“Greaves isn’t a contracted player in Scotland. He was on the fringes. He put his hand up, worked extremely hard and put himself in the picture.
“Going back a month, he wouldn’t even start in one of these games. Look at what he has done. It is just proof in the pudding that there are some quality players around associate cricket. They just need the platform to show it.”
