Player-coach Rasheed Lewis has joined Ottoman Cricket Club for the 2019-20 Western Province Cricket Association season.
Lewis, who was with Western Province Cricket Club in the WPCA premier league prior, will play for Ottoman Cricket Club – and be head coach Hassan Pangarker’s assistant.
“I feel extremely honoured and privileged to join a historic club such as Ottoman Ccricket Club. I am ready to tackle the highs and lows that comes with shaping the future of Ottoman Cricket Club,” Lewis told Club Cricket SA.
“I am grateful to WPCC for giving me the opportunity to spend six wonderful seasons at the club. I treasure the experiences gained and wish everyone at the club everything of the best.”
First division A for Ottoman and Lewis
Ottoman Cricket Club will compete in the 2019-20 first division A, after being relegated on the back of a poor 2018-19 premier league campaign, which yielded four wins in 22 matches.
They, alongside Milnerton Cricket Club, have replaced Avendale Cricket Club and St Augustine Cricket Club in the first division A. Avendale Cricket Club and St Augustine Cricket Club have moved to the first division B.
Savage has left
Ottoman Cricket Club will be without seamer Josh Savage. He has joined Green Point Cricket Club.
“It was a good time at Ottoman Cricket Club. I really appreciated it there. They treated me very well and I wish them all the best. In terms of moving on, the time seems right,’ Savage told Club Cricket SA.
“Green Point Cricket Club will bring a fresh challenge – and I want to help them in the quest for promotion to the premier league, where hopefully they can eventually become an established presence.”
