North West all-rounder Migael Pretorius’ stay with Somerset in English county cricket has been extended.
Pretorius has taken 14 wickets and hit two half-centuries in six County Championship fixtures this year. He was scheduled to leave Somerset after this month’s fixture against Durham.
His stay has since been extended until at least 4 July. He will be available for Somerset’s 2024 T20 Blast campaign.
“We have all been impressed with Migael. His attitude and approach have been first class and he has demonstrated on the field that he is a really valuable player and person to have around the group,” said Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry.
“We are delighted that he will be staying with us for an extended period and look forward to him helping us maintain our very positive start to the season.”
Pretorius has previously been named in South Africa’s Test and T20I squad, but hasn’t yet debuted at international level. He has also played for Durham.
“I have really enjoyed my time at Somerset and I am pleased that it will continue. There is a great atmosphere in the dressing room. Everyone is performing well on the field,” said Pretorius.
“We have had a great start to the season and hopefully I can continue to contribute – and help us win even more matches.”
