Wicketkeeper-batsman Simon Fernandes has been named in Rondebosch Cricket Club’s second XI.
Fernandes will debut for Rondebosch Cricket Club in this week’s Western Province Cricket Association reserve division B fixture against the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club.
Fernandes has been capped eight times at List A level by Essex in England’s One-Day Cup.
Rondebosch Cricket Club, who are the reigning WPCA premier league champions, have Warwickshire wicketkeeper-batsman Kai Smith in the first XI.
Fernandes and Smith are among several overseas professionals involved in this season’s WPCA premier league. Cape Town Cricket Club have Essex batsman Robin Das. Claremont Cricket Club have Derbyshire’s Harry Came. This is Came’s fifth season with Claremont Cricket Club. This is Das’ second season with Cape Town Cricket Club.
Brackenfell Cricket Club have Gloucestershire’s Chris Dent. Worcestershire’s Gareth Roderick is captaining Green Point Cricket Club. Northamptonshire’s Justin Broad is with Western Province Cricket Club.
In the 2024-25 WPCA first division A, Northamptonshire spinner Freddie Heldreich is playing for Victoria Cricket Club.
