Rondebosch Cricket Club seamer Jaime Valadao will play for Heathcoat Cricket Club during this year’s England summer and South African winter.
Valadao was a key member of Rondebosch Cricket Club’s 2018-19 Western Province Cricket Association premier league campaign. He took 17 wicket in as many matches at an average of 16.7.
“Valadao has been recommended to the premier division club by their former captain Bradley Barnes,” read a statement from Devon Cricket.
“South African Barnes, who played for Western Province, spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons with Heathcoat before returning home.
“A reciprocal link has been established between Heathcoat and Rondesboch Cricket Club in Cape Town, where Barnes and Valadao both play. Although Valadao lives in South Africa, he travels on a Portuguese passport.
“Heathcoat batsman Jack Dart has spent a couple of seasons in South Africa with Rondesboch since the link began.
“Valadao, who works in the field of sports science, has come to the UK with the intention of studying at Loughborough University.”
Milnerton Cricket Club seamer Malcolm Cloete, will return to Heathcote Cricket Club. Cloete enjoyed a relatively successful stint with Heathcote Cricket Club in 2018.
Cloete took 38 wickets in 28 matches for Milnerton Cricket Club during the 2018-19 WPCA premier league, but the tally wasn’t enough to prevent relegation to the 2019-20 first division A.
