Batsman Luc Benkenstein has been named in Rondebosch Cricket Club’s XI for this week’s Western Province Cricket Association premier league fixture against Cape Town Cricket Club at the Boon Wallace Oval.
Benkenstein has played first-class and List A cricket for Essex – and represented England at the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year.
He is the son of former Proteas batsman Dale Benkenstein.
Rondebosch Cricket Club are the reigning WPCA premier league champions.
Meanwhile, batsman Robin Das will soon return to Cape Town Cricket Club. Das, like Benkenstein, has been playing for Essex in the County Championship.
Other overseas professionals are involved in the 2024-25 WPCA premier league and first division A, too, including Worcestershire’s Gareth Roderick at Green Point Cricket Club and Northamptonshire’s Freddie Heldreich at Victoria Cricket Club.
Western Province Cricket Club have Netherlands seamers Ryan Klein and Kyle Klein.
