South Africa beat the West Indies by 50 runs in Wednesday’s Over-60 World Cup fixture at the Roy Henzell Oval in Queensland, Australia.
South Africa posted a final total of 202 for eight in the allotted 45 overs.
Opening batsman Ross Holing top-scored with 57 from 97 deliveries.
Holing received support from middle-order batsman Aqeel Cupido, who struck 36 from 44.
The West Indies reached 152 for eight in reply. South Africa’s Vivian Chamier claimed figures of three for 25 in nine overs. Trevor Poole took two for 27 in nine.
This is South Africa’s first win of the tournament, after defeats to New Zealand and the United States of America.
South Africa will play the Rest of the World at the John Blanck Oval on Friday – and Pakistan at the Roy Thompson Oval on Saturday.
