Royal Dutch Cricket Board name Monica Visser new CEO

Monica Visser has been appointed chief executive officer of the Royal Dutch Cricket Board (KNCB).

Visser will effectively succeed interim director Richard de Winter. Her tenure will start in mid-July 2022.

She is an experienced CEO who oversaw innovations at the Royal Netherlands Rowing Board for nine years. Visser was also director of Sportservice Flevoland.

“I’m very excited to start this journey and to make sure, with the help of the new board and KNCB office, to make a difference,” said Visser.

“Cricket is a multi-cultural sport with many special and old traditions and a lot of potential. Under the motto, learn, perform and having fun, I look forward to build on relationships and, together with all the clubs, bring the beautiful sport of cricket to fruition.”

What KNCB chairman Guido Landheer said

“Monica is a leader with a clear vision who, in cooperation with the clubs, wants to realise the necessary innovation which will put cricket on a higher platform in the Netherlands. With her competences and experience, Monica is the right person for the job”, added Landheer.

Netherland’s South Africa connection

South Africa’s Ryan Cook is currently the interim head coach of Netherlands, who also have Western Province Cricket Club seamer Ryan Klein.

Former Proteas all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe has also played for Netherlands – and Johannesburg-born Brandon Glover – relatively recently.
