South Africa Legends lost to Sri Lanka Legends by nine wickets in Monday’s 2021 Road Safety World Series fixture at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
South Africa were limited to 89 all out in 18.5 overs, after which Sri Lanka reached 92 for one with 40 deliveries to spare.
Batsman Andrew Puttick top-scored for the South Africans. His 39 spanned 46 deliveries and was lined with four fours.
Puttick’s contribution was particularly important, after openers Loots Bosman and Alviro Petersen fell for ducks.
The left-handed Puttick was eventually bowled by spinner Sanath Jayasuriya. Puttick had relished brief support from wicketkeeper-batsman Morne van Wyk and all-rounders Zander de Bruyn and Justin Kemp.

South Africa Legends’ next match will be against England Legends, who are captained by Kevin Pietersen, on Thursday at the same venue.
The tournament also includes India Legends, who are captained by Sachin Tendulkar, West Indies Legends, who are led by Brian Lara, and Bangladesh Legends.
