Saleem Mukuddem has been appointed chairman of Rylands Cricket club ahead of the 2022-23 Western Province Cricket Association season.
Mukuddem has succeeded former Rylands Cricket Club chairman Waseem Amien.
Saleem’s father, the late Abdul Wahab Mukuddem, was Rylands Cricket Club chairman for several years. Rylands Cricket Club’s main oval is named after him – the AW Mukuddem Oval.
Rylands Cricket Club’s first XI will compete in the 2022-23 WPCA premier league. They finished in eighth position in the 2021-22 premier league.
“We believed that this past season would be one of stabilisation and gaining invaluable experience, to enable a talented group of younger players to commence fulfilment of undoubted potential,” read an excerpt from the outgoing Amien’s report for the 2021-22 season.
“With some displays of performance to the maximum and others, which, shall we say, perhaps did not go that far, we absolutely achieved our objectives.
“Having maintained our objective of securing our position in the premier league, we build on the experience gained and make strides toward a higher log position this coming season.”
