South Africa lost to the United States of America by three runs in Tuesday’s Over-60 World Cup fixture at the Roy Thompson Oval in Queensland, Australia.
South Africa captain Roy Meeser won the toss and opted to bowl first. Meeser had done the same in defeat to New Zealand earlier this week.
The United States of America posted a final total of 150 for nine in the allotted 45 overs – the total included 35 wides. South Africa’s Vivian Chamier completed figures of three for 23 in nine overs.
South Africa reached 147 for seven in reply. Opening batsman Brian McLean top-scored with 52 from 71 deliveries.
South Africa will play the West Indies at the Roy Henzell Oval on Wednesday.
They will then play the Rest of the World at the John Blanck Oval on Friday – and return to the Roy Thompson Oval to meet Pakistan on Saturday.
