Boland Over-40 coach Howie Bergins has been named South Africa Over-40 head coach.
Bergins coached Boland Over-40 during May 2023’s inter-provincial tournament in Johannesburg. Boland Over-40 finished in last position at the eight-team tournament, which Western Province Over-40 won.
Former Springbok fullback Russell Bennett has been appointed South Africa Over-40 manager. Bennett was with Border Over-40 for last month’s inter-provincial tournament.
Meanwhile, Lions Over-40 coach Graham McMillan has been named South Africa Over-40 Invitational head coach. Titans Over-40’s Tony de Beer will be South Africa Over-40 Invitational manager.
“Bergins and Bennett will prepare the South African squad for the Africa Cup, which will take place at Irene Country Club, Tshwane, from the 27 November to 1 December 2023,” read a statement from the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa.
“McMillan and de Beer will do the same for South Africa Over-40 Invitational for the same tournament. All the candidates come with significant playing, coaching and managerial experience and the VCASA wishes them well as they prepare their respective squads for the Africa Cup.”
