Primrose Cricket Club have appointed new head coach Saadiek Davids ahead of the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association first division A.

Davids resigned as Victoria Cricket Club head coach earlier this week. In 2024, he coached them to Western Province Cricket Association first division A promotion. In 2025, he achieved WPCA premier league promotion with Victoria Cricket Club. He also won the WPCA first division A T20 title with them earlier this month.

“I am incredibly excited to be back – this is where it all began for me,” Davids told Club Cricket SA.

I played my very first cricket match here at the under-11 level, and now, to return as the head coach of Primrose Cricket Club, is not only a great honour but also a profound privilege.”

Primrose Cricket Club ended the 2024-25 WPCA first division A in third position. They won 17 and lost five matches.

“My vision and approach as head coach is simple yet powerful – to instill self-belief in every single player, so that winning becomes second nature at this club. It’s not just about skill or talent – it’s about mindset,” added Davids.

“How do we get there? By building a strong, united culture grounded in discipline, clear principles, a team-first mentality, and an unwavering commitment to hard work. When we focus on these core values and maintain this structure, the results on the field will follow naturally.

“This is more than just coaching – it’s about shaping character, creating habits of success, and honouring the legacy of a club that has given so much to so many. I’m ready for the journey ahead, and I know we’ll rise together.”

Davids has succeeded former Primrose Cricket Club head coach Taahir Adams.

Adams and former assistant coach Achmat Brown will not formally be involved in Primrose Cricket Club’s 2025-26 WPCA first division A season.

“Joining Davids in the coaching structure is Wasfee Samsodien, whose pivotal role contributed significantly to the successes of our first and second teams in the 2024-25 season,” read a statement from Primrose Cricket Club.

“Samsodien’s distinctive expertise and dedication will continue to be a crucial asset for the club. We also extend our appreciation to long-serving assistant coach Achmat Brown, who has decided to take a well-deserved break from coaching after eight dedicated years at the club.

“Primrose Cricket Club deeply value coach Brown’s commitment and service and reiterates that the club remains his home. Former head coach Taahir Adams will not be part of the official coaching set-up this season, yet his invaluable insights and advice will continue to be welcomed and appreciated.

“We particularly recognise our director of coaching Qaasim Adams, whose exceptional mentorship and coaching prowess have significantly elevated the club over the past four years.

“Adams is celebrated both as one of the finest talents our community has produced and as a highly accomplished coach who has successfully progressed to provincial and international cricket. Primrose CC proudly congratulate Adams on these remarkable accomplishments, confident that he will continue to reach new heights in his coaching career.”
