The full squads for the division one provinces in South Africa’s 2021-22 domestic season have been revealed.
Several players missed inclusion, but might be afforded academy berths or secondary high-performance contracts by first division provinces.
Others could be included in division two squads, or not at all.
- All-rounder Grant Thomson was captaining the Titans in the 4-Day Domestic Series a month ago. He isn’t in the Northerns squad. Maybe he’ll play for Easterns.
- Batsman Marco Marais has been key for the Warriors and boasts Mzansi Super League experience. He hasn’t been recruited by Eastern Province. Perhaps he will play for Border.
- Seamer Onke Nyaku was with the Cape Cobras. He hasn’t been named in the Western Province or Boland squad. Perhaps South Western Districts beckons.
- All-rounder Calvin Savage left the Dolphins for the Cape Cobras, but isn’t in the Western Province squad. Maybe KwaZulu-Natal Inland inclusion awaits.
- Spinner Jade de Klerk played for the Warriors, but isn’t with Eastern Province. Perhaps he’ll go to Border or elsewhere.
- Seamer Ryan Cartwright has played for the Titans, but Northerns haven’t kept him. Easterns could be his destination.
- Fast bowler Stefan Tait was with the Warriors. He isn’t in the Eastern Province squad. He could go to Border.
- Seamer Keith Dudgeon hasn’t been included in the KwaZulu-Natal Coastal squad. A berth in the KwaZulu-Natal Inland squad is likely.
- Seamer Khwezi Gumede played for the Titans. He isn’t in the Northerns squad. He’ll possibly play for Easterns again.
- All-rounder Matthew Arnold has represented the Titans. He isn’t with Northerns. He’ll probably be retained by Easterns.
- Wicketkeeper-batsman Rubin Hermann has Titans experience. He isn’t in the Northerns squad. He might be in the Easterns squad.
