Cape Town Cricket Club’s Thando Ntini, United Cricket Club’s Qaasim Adams, Victoria Cricket Club’s Isaac Dikgale and Bellville Cricket Club’s Justin Dill are among 14 players named in Western Province’s squad for this year’s Cricket South Africa Provincial T20 Cup.
The squad will be captained by Durbanville Cricket Club all-rounder and reigning National Club Championship Player of the Tournament Andre Malan – and also features Cape Cobras quartet David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne, Jason Smith and Dane Paterson.
What was said about the Provincial T20 Cup squad
“Having the franchise and senior players in our team for the Provincial T20 Cup is a big plus for us. They will set the tone and groom the youngsters we have at our disposal,” said Western Province coach Paul Adams.
“The likes of Mihlali Mpongwana, Luke Philander and Ntini, who has performed well for the South Africa Emerging side, will have to build and prepare for the upcoming season.”
Western Province Cricket Association cricket services manager Clinton du Preez added: “We are excited with the group and blend of players, especially for our debutants. We trust that the team will gel well and make use of the experience of the senior players.”
The tournament, which will start in Potchefstroom later this week, used to be called the Africa T20 Cup – and was won by Gauteng last year.
