Spinner Prenelan Subrayen will not be named in South Africa’s XI for Friday’s second ODI against Australia in Mackay.
Subrayen has been reported for a suspect bowling action during the series opener in Cairns earlier this week.
Subrayen, on ODI debut at the time, bowled 10 overs and took one wicket in a 98-run win for the Proteas.
“Prenelan is available to play. You are allowed to play until you get tested. We just want less noise and get him out of the public eye, make sure he is okay and focuses on the testing,” said Proteas head coach Shukri Conrad.
“He has gone through this process before. It is never easy. It has taken him a long time to make his debut and we are rallying around him. Next week will reveal a lot and we will take it from there.”
The on-field umpires for this series opener were Chris Gaffaney and Sam Nogajski.
“The match officials’ report specified concerns about the legality of Subrayen’s action,” read a statement from the International Cricket Council.
“The bowler will undergo an independent assessment of his bowling action at an ICC-accredited testing facility.”
