Spinner Siya Simetu has been contracted by the Warriors for South Africa’s 2023-24 domestic season.
Simetu collected 34 first-class appearances for the Cape Cobras, Western Province and South Western Districts from 2010 to 2016.
Simetu left Ottoman Cricket Club for the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club in 2017 – and played several seasons in the Western Cape Cricket Association premier league.
The Warriors have given the 31-year-old Simetu a high-performance contract. The Warriors have given former Western Province Cricket Club seamer Siya Plaatjie a rookie contract.
“The 2022-23 season was a mixed season for us, but I am really happy with our 4-Day Domestic Series result. We missed out on the trophy by a very narrow margin,” said Warriors head coach Robin Peterson, who is currently working with MI New York in this month’s inaugural edition of Major League Cricket.
“Our focus now returns to the 2023-24 season, and we have finalised the squad with some exciting new signings.”
