Former Boland and South Western Districts batsman Murray Commins debuted for Ireland in ODI cricket this week.
Commins scored six in Ireland’s 46-run win over Zimbabwe in Harare on Saturday.
He is the son of former Proteas batsman Jon Commins, who played three Tests in the mid-1990s.
Commins junior has been playing first-class cricket in Ireland since 2019 – first for the Northern Knights and later Munster Reds. He debuted for Ireland A in 2021.
Commins was capped twice by Boland and eight times by South Western Districts at first-class level before pursuing a career in Ireland.
