Sri Lanka A beat South Africa A by seven wickets in Tuesday’s second fixture of the limited-overs series at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
South Africa A were limited to 175 all out in 43.2 overs after captain Tony de Zorzi won the toss and opted to bat first.
The visitors collapsed to 42 for seven before batsman Tristan Stubbs and all-rounder Gerald Coetzee combined for a 111-run partnership.
Stubbs struck 59. Coetzee hit 77. This is the highest score of Coetzee’s List A career.
Stubbs and Coetzee were not selected for the series opener, which South Africa A won. Wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne and batsman Zubayr Hamza were also selected this time and fell for zero and two, respectively.
In reply, Sri Lanka A moved to 178 for three in 29 overs for victory with 126 deliveries to spare. Opener Nishan Madushka hit 107 not out. Seamers Beyers Swanepoel, Lizaad Williams and Tshepo Moreki took a wicket each.
South Africa A and Sri Lanka A will meet for one more limited-overs fixtures in Pallekele before contesting two four-day fixtures in Hambantota.
