South Africa A’s squads for August and September’s series against Sri Lanka A have been confirmed.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne will captain the limited-overs squad. All-rounder Neil Brand will captain the first-class squad.

The 15-man limited-overs squad includes eight players with Test, ODI or T20I experience.

The 15-man first-class squad includes six players with Test, ODI or T20I experience.

“Both squads were selected based on strong domestic performances and with one eye on the future, considering players who could potentially challenge for spots in the ODI and Test squads down the line,” said Proteas Test coach Shukri Conrad.

“This tour presents a great opportunity for Kyle, who has demonstrated his capabilities as a captain by successfully leading Western Province to the domestic 50-over title last season.

Neil did a great job leading South Africa in the two-match Test series against New Zealand earlier this year. He displays the necessary leadership qualities and has the game to back that up.

“We want to create a culture of winning, and I think it will be a competitive tour against Sri Lanka. They are a tough opposition, and while they are strong in their home conditions, they continue to improve in foreign conditions. We expect a tightly contested series.”

South Africa A and Sri Lanka A will meet for three one-day and two four-day fixtures.
