Titans’ Christo Weiss and Western Province’s Ismail Teladia have been named coach and manager, respectively, for South Africa’s Over-50 World Cup campaign later this year.
The Over-50 World Cup will be played in Cape Town from 6 to 20 March.
What VCASA said about Weiss
“Weiss has a Cricket South Africa level two coaching certificate and is the Titans Over-50 coach,” read a statement from the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa.
“He was the assistant coach of the South African Over-50 team, which won the inaugural Africa Cup tournament in November 2022.
“He is currently captain of the Police Veterans team. Christo has played premier league cricket for Pretoria Police Cricket Club for over 35 years.”
What VCASA said about Teladia
Teladia played for South Africa at the Over-60 World Cup in Australia last year.
“Teladia is a qualified Cricket South Africa level three coach and has coached several Western Province school and club teams. He also serves as a national selector for the Proteas Veterans squad,” added the VCASA.
“Teladia previously played club cricket for Victoria Cricket Club, Mitchells Plain Cricket Club and Ottoman Cricket Club.
“Both gentlemen are heavily invested in veterans cricket in South Africa. The duo will be responsible for ensuring the soon-to-be-announced Over-50 squad will be well prepared for the Over-50 World Cup.”
