South Africa Over-40 will play New Zealand Over-40 in the final of the Over-40 World Cup at Western Province Cricket Club in Cape Town on Friday, 1 March 2024.
South Africa finished in second position in group B to reach the semi-final stage of the inaugural tournament after victories over India, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates and Wales.
South Africa beat England, who had topped group A with five successive wins, in the semi-final.
SA Over-40’s top performers
Captain Warren Dugmore is South Africa’s top run-scorer at this Over-40 World Cup. He has collected 206 runs in six innings at an average of 51.50.
Seamer Lundi Mbane has been South Africa’s most prolific bowler this tournament. He has taken 12 wickets in six matches.
South Africa Over-40 all-rounder Jaco Castle has gathered seven wickets and 185 runs in five matches.
NZ’s Over-40 World Cup progression
New Zealand beat Australia in the other semi-final. New Zealand are undefeated after six matches. They beat South Africa earlier in the tournament, too.
New Zealand’s squad includes former Test cricketer James Marshall, who hit an unbeaten century against Australia Over-40 earlier this week.
Former Test cricketer Nick Compton was England Over-40’s top run-scorer this tournament.
