Fast bowler Gavin Dickenson has left St Augustine Cricket Club in the 2019-20 Western Province Cricket Association first division B for Claremont Cricket Club in the premier league.
Dickenson and Claremont Cricket Club confirmed the news to Club Cricket SA.
The talented right-armer took 11 wickets in 14 matches during St Augustine Cricket Club’s 2018-19 WPCA first division A campaign, according to WebSports.
St Augustine Cricket Club finished at the bottom of the 12-team standings, after three wins and 19 losses, and have since been relegated to the first division B.
“I really enjoyed my time at St Augustine Cricket Club, where I developed as a bowler and was part of some good teams. I am grateful to St Augustine Cricket Club for looking after me over the years,” said Dickenson.
“The time is right, I feel, for a new challenge. I am joining Claremont Cricket Club in the hope of growing my bowling and contributing to their premier league campaign.”
Claremont Cricket Club, meanwhile, have appointed the experienced Allison Johnson head coach. Batsman Mark Hendricks has been named premier league captain.
“It will be a big task, but I am up for it. Working alongside new coach Allison and Mark will be good. It is an exciting time and I can’t wait to get going,” added Dickenson.
