St Augustine Cricket Club’s Keenan Bowers was named the Regional Performance Centres and Hubs Coach of the Year at Cricket South Africa’s amateur cricket awards in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Bowers was a relatively key player during St Augustine CC’s 2015-16 Western Province Cricket Association premier league campaign – and, as a coach, was pivotal to the Cape Town-based club’s growth as a CSA-recognised hub in the Western Cape.
“I’m very proud of the achievement and grateful for the opportunity to have won this award,” Bowers told Club Cricket SA. “It has taken a lot of hard work as a CSA-qualified level two coach, but the hard work is paying off.”
Burma Lads Cricket Club batsman Patrick Kruger, meanwhile, received the National Club Championship Player of the Tournament trophy – after starring at the annual event in Pretoria earlier this year.
“Congratulations, Patrick. The club is super proud of you and all your achievements so far. We know and believe in you, that you can reach the highest level and trust that this is the start of great things to come – we are all keeping our eye on you,” read a social media statement from the Kimberley-based Burma Lads Cricket Club.
