Stormers coach Greg Hechter has left South Africa to join Cricket Tasmania as head of talent and development.
Hechter held several roles within the Stormers for two decades, including fitness and conditioning manager, kicking coach and high performance manager.
“I am excited to be joining Cricket Tasmania and making the move from Cape Town to Hobart,” said Hechter.
“I aim to bring all of my experience in elite sport to Cricket Tasmania’s pathways programs as we look to identify the best cricket talent in Tasmania, whether this be on the field, or with our coaches and match officials.”
Cricket Tasmania general manager of high performance Salliann Beams added: “Greg has had great success in South African rugby and will bring a culture of success to our organisation.
“The role will provide Greg with an opportunity to work with some of the youngest and brightest sporting talent in our state, as we look to develop the next Sam Nogajski, Amy Smith or Beau Webster.”
Hechter’s employment at Cricket Tasmania started on Wednesday, 15 May 2024.
