Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has joined the Sunrisers Eastern Cape as director of cricket in the SA20.
Vettori worked with Australia in the recent Ashes series and, in 2025, was the head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.
He was previously the head coach of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL – and has coached in the Caribbean Premier League.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape are the most successful team in the history of the SA20. They have won two and lost one final – and have qualified for the play-off stage of the ongoing fourth season of the tournament.
SEC will play MI Cape Town at Newlands on Friday, 16 December 2026. MI Cape Town are the reigning SA20 champions, but currently occupy last position on the six-team points table.
