Sri Lanka spinner Tharindu Ratnayake has joined the Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s squad for season four of the SA20.
Ratnayake, who bowls right-arm and left-arm spin, has been added to the SEC squad as a partial replacement for Afghanistan’s AM Ghazanfar.
“Welcome to Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Tharindu. He replaces AM Ghazanfar temporarily until he finishes his current playing schedule,” read a statement from the franchise.
Proteas batsman Tristan Stubbs will captain the Sunrisers this season. Former captain Aiden Markram has joined Durban’s Super Giants.
The Sunrisers’ squad includes multiple other overseas players, including England’s Jonny Bairstow and New Zealand’s Adam Milne.
The Sunrisers are the most successful team in the history of the SA20 with two titles. Season four of the SA20 is scheduled to start on 26 December 2025. MI Cape Town are the reigning champions.
