The Sunrisers Hyderabad have appointed Proteas batsman Aiden Markram captain for the 2023 Indian Premier League.
Markram captained the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the inaugural SA20 title recently.
He has succeeded former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson.
Markram was recently recalled to South Africa’s Test squad.
IPL background
The 2023 IPL will start on 31 March. The Gujarat Titans are the reigning champions after beating the Rajasthan Royals in the 2022 final.
The Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the IPL with five titles. The Chennai Super Kings have won the tournament three times. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the IPL once, in 2016.
