Spinner Prenelan Subrayen has been reported for a suspect bowling action during South Africa’s first ODI against Australia in Cairns earlier this week.

Subrayen, on ODI debut at the time, bowled 10 overs and took one wicket in a 98-run win for the Proteas.

The on-field umpires for this series opener were Chris Gaffaney and Sam Nogajski.

“The match officials’ report specified concerns about the legality of Subrayen’s action,” read a statement from the International Cricket Council.

“The bowler will undergo an independent assessment of his bowling action at an ICC-accredited testing facility.”

South Africa will be without fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for the rest of the series. He has been sidelined by an ankle injury.

“The 30-year-old underwent a scan on Monday, which confirmed the extent of the injury. He will remain in Australia and undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the Proteas medical staff,” read a statement from Cricket South Africa.

“Maphaka, who finished as the leading wicket-taker in the recent T20I series, has been added to the squad.”

The second ODI will be played in Mackay on Friday.
