“The aspirations of the Garden Route Badgers to reach the final ended on a disappointing note when they suffered a 237-run defeat against Easterns in their final pool match of the season,” read a statement from SWD Cricket.

“For the Badgers, this was a must-win contest for a place in the final. Although the Badgers have recorded a much-improved performance versus last season, captain Yaseen Valli and his troops will be bitterly disappointed after they recorded three impressive outright victories in the competition, but thereafter lost steam and lost their last three matches.”

SWD, meanwhile, remain in contention for promotion to division one of South African domestic cricket. Their One-Day Cup, division two, campaign will start against Northern Cape on 21 February.
