Former Western Province captain Andre Malan has been named in the South Western Districts squad for South Africa’s 2021-22 domestic season.
Malan previously captained Western Province – and has represented the Cape Cobras.
The squad also includes seamer Onke Nyaku and wicketkeeper-batsman Hanno Kotze, who also have experience with the Cobras.
South Western Districts have been placed among the bottom tier of the country’s new domestic structure, which will return to provincial rather than franchise competition later this year.
“As we narrowly missed out on a place in Division One following the bid process, we put a squad together with the purpose of taking us to promotion and beyond,” said South Western Districts chief executive officer Albertus Kennedy.
“It is a squad that makes provision for local talent and newly-recruited players to fill some of the gaps that we felt needed plugging and overall, we are excited and looking forward to next season.”
