Former Cape Cobras batsman Sybrand Engelbrecht was named in Netherlands’ XI for Monday’s Cricket World Cup fixture against New Zealand in Hyderabad, India.
Engelbrecht played first-class cricket in South Africa for nine years, from 2007 to 2016, before relocating to Netherlands.
The International Cricket Council recently declared Engelbrecht eligible to play ODI and T20I cricket for Netherlands.
The 35-year-old Engelbrecht has been captaining Voorburg Cricket Club in the Topklasse – the leading domestic limited-overs competition in Netherlands.
