Ottoman Cricket Club player-coach Taariq Behardien‘s role has effectively been halved for the 2023-23 Western Province Cricket Association first division A.
Behardien, who is Ottoman Cricket Club’s reigning Player of the Year, has resigned as coach, but will continue to play.
“Taariq steps down as the head coach to focus on his game and prolong his playing career. The club would like to thank him for having played this role for the past two seasons,” read a statement from Ottoman Cricket Club.
“Taariq took us to the WPCA premier league in his first year of coaching. He has shaped quite a number of our young players and instilled confidence and belief in some of our senior players.
“We wish him all the best as he prepares to focus on his own game without the pressures of being the head coach.”
Ottoman Cricket Club have returned to the first division A after finishing in last position in the 2022-23 premier league.
