South Africa Under-19 batsman Dewald Brevis put in a telling performance in Friday’s T20 Knockout tournament fixture against Easterns at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
Brevis struck 46 from 25 deliveries, including two fours and four sixes.
The 18-year-old Brevis starred for South Africa Under-19 earlier this year, too, striking 54 not out from 40 deliveries against Northerns in the One-Day Challenge.
He has since been contracted by the Titans (Northerns) for the 2021-22 domestic season, Proteas Lizaad Williams, Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, Quinton de Kock, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dean Elgar and Heinrich Klaasen are also on the Titans’ contract list.
Brevis keen to put on ‘big show like AB’
“AB has always been one of my role models. He has a great mindset and he likes to entertain people. From a young age, I was the same. I also wanted to entertain and put up a big show whenever I batted,” Brevis told Cricket Fanatics Magazine.
“AB is someone I look up to and if I can play only 10 percent like AB I’ll be happy. I’d love that.”
